ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Asikuzzaman, the founder of the Initiative for Coastal Development (ICD), establishedthe organi- zation in 2018 after completing his B.A. (Hons) and M.A. from University of Dhaka. Initially focus- ing on the development of Tiger Widows and the Munda community in Koyra Upazila, Khulna, his efforts gained widespread attention through mainstream and social media, leading to increased support from both national and international donors. Consequently, ICD has effectively provided assistance in education, health, employment, rehabilitation, access to drinking water, Iftar and Qurbani programs, sanitation, youth skill development, and awareness initiatives for the under- privileged people of Khulna and Satkhira Districts. To date, 90 Tiger Widows and tribal Munda women have been employed through ICD’s efforts.
Asikuzzaman’s noteworthy contributions have earned him recognition through various awards and accolades, including:
– Global Youth Leadership Award 2021, Kathmandu, Nepal
– South Asian Youth Leadership Award 2021
– LG Brand Ambassador Award for consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021)
– Joybangla Youth Leadership Award 2022
– VSO-Prothom Alo Volunteering Award 2022
– Rtv-Monimix Inspirational Award 2021
These accolades, received both domestically and internationally, commend Asikuzzaman’s impactful work and dedication to philanthropyntinues his philanthropic endeavor.
